My Migration Stories
My name is Agnes
In 2012 I came to New Zealand, when I was three years old.
My reason for coming to New Zealand was because my mother came to further her education and got a job in Auckland as a registered nurse. New Zealand is very different from my home country Kochi India because we have to speak English in New Zealand. I used to speak my mother language which
is Malayalam. I did not go to school in India. When I first arrived I found it very difficult to learn and speak English. I really miss my Grandma’s cooking. In India the food is hot and spicy, but in New Zealand it is not that spicy and it is watered down.
